Picture a purpose-driven business.

A company that wants to make a difference in their industry, community or the world. Whether it’s a small to medium business, or solopreneur who is simply consumed with the operations of their business and can’t seem to find the time to do marketing online. The underlying fact throughout, however is that these business owners have a good product or service.

These are the customers Jason Marcano seeks to help. As he sits down with The Muse, Marcano opens up further about his latest projects and his business re-invention of Paperclip Media.

He shares that as a solopreneur previously, he noticed customers wanted videos or graphics, but didn’t spend enough time strategizing to arrive at a clear plan to create content effectively and consistently. Now, instead of just creating content for businesses, Marcano is now strategizing with clients to help figure out the best way to create consistent content.

As a consultant, he dives deep on the strategy side, identifying what type of content is needed to attract and convert the right clients, while putting systems in place to create a steady flow [of content] that hits the mark each time.

The business owner shares that years prior, his initial customers were also small businesses that needed very specific types of content executed. Some needed a brand story video, others a vlog, logo or product photography. He shares with readers that he is happy to see that most of these businesses still exist today.

While some have disappeared and others grown, he accepts that such is the nature of business. Marcano’s advice for the ones that fell off the radar is that if consistent content was present, it may very well have guaranteed a successful business today.

For this reason, over the next five years, he would like to develop tools to simplify the content creation process as well as expand his team with people who are following their purpose as well. This along with growing his clientele to increased regional and international clients.

The business owner says the catalyst for forming his company, Paperclip Media was a talk he heard about the things he could be doing outside of an 8-4/9-5 to live his true Life Purpose. It got him to thinking and feeling as though he wasn’t living his true potential while working at his previous job.

“When I listened to how much time people spend going to work, being at work doing things they don’t enjoy, and how much time they are wasting, the concept of a purpose-driven business lead me to focus on what I did best, which was storytelling.”

As he combined this gift of storytelling with his knowledge of media production, Marcano soon realized brands needed to tell better stories and so he started Paperclip Media.

“The concept started with wanting to help brands create better ads; but as digital media and content grew in importance, I shifted to how stories could be told with content.”

What’s in the future plans for Jason Marcano?

The Storyteller, Content Creator and Filmmaker can soon add author to his title.

His impending book will be a reference book about how brands should tell stories holistically in this modern age. While it’s still very much in production, Marcano gave us a sneak peek at what’s in store where his book is concerned:

Storytelling in marketing is evolving. Most people think that it’s just about how you you structure your posts, but Story is everything. From identifying what is your brand identity; communicating your story and identifying what you believe in/don’t believe in, it’s important to craft a narrative that positions you for success.

The soon-to-be-author pens his book with readers in mind who are the founders of purpose-driven businesses and marketers that want to improve their storytelling.

As far his films go, he has almost completed scripting a short film which has a powerful message, however the business owner says he has other projects for this year that will take priority.
