Dexter Emrit’s brand of coaching and consulting is a bit different – extraordinary if you may. He sat down  this season with The Muse Ezine to give context to feed the minds of our curious readers.

It’s early November and the weather is overcast. As I approach the cozy coffee shop, Dexter spots me immediately and ushers me inside. After formalities are exchanged we settle into a quite nice rapport about his very interesting courses and line-up of services.

The question on the minds of many people I can safely predict is the difference between coaching and consulting as it is often used interchangeably! This was Dexter’s response.

Coaching is more personal, attuned to the needs of the participants, and extends beyond professional focus when needed.

Consulting is more corporate-focused, based on client needs.

His company D. Emrit Consulting & Training Services would have coached and trained hundreds from CEO’s to clerks across multiple industries including Manufacturing, Energy, Hospitality, Financial and Education.

In addition, he has a range of very interesting courses. Some of which include: Executive Presence, Family Branding and Managing Office Politics. I ask him, What is Family Branding!? And how does one teach this?

“Just as each individual is a personal brand, I take this further by focusing on a family unit and creating a brand that members wish to become as a group. Members are encouraged to celebrate their individuality; however, we create a brand that the entire family aligns to” he explains.

In a similar fashion, Dexter goes on to explain Executive Presence.

“Well, even Harvard says 85% of our professional success is impacted by our soft skills. In this program I focus on five areas:

  1. Appearance,
  2. Communication,
  3. Gravitas (emotional intelligence, conflict management, etc),
  4. Moral Compass, and
  5. Personal Powers

Then comes the big One: Office Politics!

“Every relationship has a dynamic that we call politics. Politics is inevitable, and need not be toxic. I focus on the psychology of relationships, understanding the ‘game’ that needs to be played, and how to win at the game without compromising one’s integrity or stepping on others’ feet.”

Other Services

Dexter’s services however does not end with coaching and consulting. He is also an MBA lecturer, author, motivational speaker and a Document Specialist! And what exactly does a Document Specialist do, you may be wondering?

  • Disciplinary letters;
  • Employment handbooks;
  • Strategic plans;
  • Templates to impact individual productivity;
  • HR policies;
  • Commendation letters;
  • Power Point presentations, etc.

Ever wondered who to call when you needed these items drafted? Worry no more. Dexter’s here and he’s your guy to get it done.

His Books

His inspiration for writing his books came from his passion and calling to serve; to help others become the best version of themselves.

They are both motivational; Awakening the Spirit – You Can and I Decide What I Become, the latter which is geared towards teens. Now many secondary school children can be inspired as a few secondary schools bought several copies.

Published in 2009 and 2010, the books are no longer in circulation however; but he hopes to publish a second edition in 2026. The author is also working on his third book, based on leadership and toxic corporate culture.

Dexter says the feedback on both books was great.  An (international) sailor saw his book in the public library and was so moved that he rang him up and invited him for coffee. He had to meet the author! And a senior manager at a prominent national agency said his book answered all of his life’s questions.

Wow!

With such a diverse range of related services, there’s a few that are indeed close to his soul. These include formulating strategic plans; high-level leadership coaching; Personal Branding & Executive Presence and anything HR!

What is most rewarding for Dexter Emrit? He assumes a more relaxed posture and flashes a radiant smile as he shares this with The Muse Ezine,

“I love all that I do and each are equally rewarding. I am happy that I found my calling. My coaching, lecturing, writing, speaking, and corporate training are all ingredients for me manifesting my mission: leaving the world better than I found it by impacting human lives! I am excited to awake everyday and work on my purpose.”
